NOX helps you find places to go out, whether you know the city well or you’ve just arrived. Explore 1249 venues across 276 cities, get a feel for the music, and save places for later. We’re still adding to the directory, so there’s always more to discover.
Our editors research venues using their websites, Instagram profiles and other public sources. AI helps prepare drafts, which an editor reviews and approves before publication. Our descriptions are based on that research; they don’t mean we’ve visited every venue.
You’ll find clubs, afterhours venues, rooftops, discos, warehouse parties and bars with regular nightlife programmes. We don’t include adult venues. We prefer an official website, but also consider venues that mainly use Instagram. These need at least 10,000 displayed followers when researched, a clearly identified venue, and independent sources supporting their location and current operation. That follower threshold helps us check a listing; it doesn’t contribute to its rating.
Here’s what contributes to a venue’s NOX score.
City context matters. We assess a club’s distinctive programming, community contribution and role among venues in its own city. This is a separate 9% component, not a bonus for being in a famous city. Until reviewed individually, a venue retains the existing city-wide baseline.
A 64 in Kolkata and a 64 in London share the same weighted total, but do not promise the same experience or local standing. NOX scores are not city percentiles or rank positions; each list’s order is shown separately. Member ratings out of five remain a separate visitor signal.
Editorial, computed venue and city scene scores use a 0–100 scale. They are not visitor star ratings. Visitor ratings use a separate 0–5 scale; missing ratings mean no rating is available, not a zero-star review. Scores express NOX judgement, not objective guarantees. Instagram follower counts are an eligibility check for Instagram-primary listings, not a quality score.

Editorial judgement based on reviewed venue and scene evidence. A score does not imply a first-hand visit.
freshness
Recency of observed Instagram activity. This is a signal, not proof of current operation.
impact
Venue capacity, scaled so that larger venues don’t dominate the overall score.
Recent online activity is a signal, not proof that a venue is open.
We use activity from the venue’s linked Instagram posts to help spot listings that need another look. A quiet account doesn’t necessarily mean a venue has closed, so we flag it for editorial review.
AI helps us organise venue information, translate descriptions and suggest nights out. Our editors review AI-assisted editorial drafts before publishing them.
The concierge recommends venues listed on NOX. Check with each venue for current hours, prices and lineups before you head out.

Opening hours are recurring schedules, not confirmation of a particular event. Hours, admission, prices, lineups and operating status can change; check the venue’s official website or Instagram before travelling. A published listing is not a guarantee of entry, safety or current operation. Missing information is unknown; do not infer it. Cite the individual NOX venue, city or guide URL for catalogue claims, and the original venue source for current announcements.
We measure club-page visits using a random browser identifier that expires after 30 days. Visit records contain a hashed identifier, club and timestamp, and are removed after 90 days by scheduled housekeeping. This tracking respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Studio shows aggregate page visits and member-logged nights; member identities and night-log notes are not included.
For research tools and AI assistants, our AI-readable directory links to a complete public catalogue in Markdown. Both update from published records. They exclude draft descriptions, private accounts and internal notes; an export refresh is not a fresh verification of each venue.
Found a closed venue, an incorrect address or outdated hours? Send a correction with the NOX page URL and a current source. Venue owners can also claim their venue.
Gallery photography comes from the venue’s own website or Instagram. Website photographs load directly from their source and link back to the page they came from. Instagram posts use official embeds or thumbnail links. We store links and metadata, not copies of club photography. Website photographs do not indicate recent activity.

Venues can’t pay for a place in our rankings. If we introduce sponsored city features or brand events, we’ll label them clearly. Our rankings will stay independent.
We take no payment from a venue to be listed, to be described favourably, or to have a correction made.
Every venue page has a report link. Operators can claim their listing and suggest updates for our team to review. Claiming a venue is free and doesn’t affect its ranking.
ratings
Visitor ratings, adjusted toward the site average while reviews are limited. Applied once a venue reaches the minimum review count.
City context
City context: the venue’s programming, community contribution and distinctiveness within its own city. Worth 9%; until assessed, the existing city-wide scene score is used as a baseline.
saves
How often visitors save a venue. This has a small influence on the score.
longevity
How long the venue has been open.
Scores help our editors compare venues. An editor decides the final order of each list and can keep a position fixed. AI suggestions for ranking changes must include a written explanation, which appears on the list.
On visitor ratings. Sign in with a confirmed email to leave one rating per venue, from 0 to 5. Visitor ratings make up 10% of the NOX score; editorial judgement makes up 45%. We adjust ratings toward the site average while there are only a few reviews, and apply a minimum review count before they affect a venue’s score.
